HISTORY

The Agriturismo Montespluga was born from a project of redevelopment and conservative restoration of the spaces once used as cowsheds by the Braga family, on the ground floor of the building owned by the family dating back to the early 1930s. The Agriturismo Montespluga is characterized by its location that gives it the primacy of "farmhouse furthest from the sea" (editor's note: Madesimo is the Italian town furthest from the sea) and by the desire to offer the possibility of staying in an idyllic place located "in the heart of the Alps", along the sublime road of Via Spluga that has seen famous people pass through over the centuries, including the Carthaginian Hannibal with his army and elephants.

The location represents the element of value that differentiates it from many similar activities for the uniqueness of its environmental, historical and sporting potential. The mission of the Braga family is to make the world discover the immense potential of that remote corner of paradise inhabited since prehistoric times, a hypothesis supported by the archaeological finds discovered, dating back to the Paleolithic age, which reasonably suggest the existence of a prehistoric road witness to thousands of years of frequentation.

It was probably the memory of the summers when as children they spent their holidays in that mountain area acting as "shepherds" with the family animals, making friends with many children who like them lived the same experiences, summers in freedom in contact with nature; through their eyes as children they were able to observe how a small village with few inhabitants became in the summer a place of attraction for many Italian and foreign tourists. In fact, the position of the Via Spluga has always been extremely favorable to transit, as a direct connection to the south with the famous Lake Como and Milan and to the north with the cities of the Reno valley.

The business idea was born from the dream of reliving and making live the emotions of an uncontaminated place to discover, where the environment, history and nature become protagonists. A paradise for families and sportsmen. The conservative renovation work combines the desire to " realize a dream and give life to a business idea that allows to safeguard and spread the material and immaterial cultural heritage of the family ", passing on the emotions and developing a peculiar and distinctive tourist model that promotes and enhances the rural tradition of the area.
